Considering an investment in a standby generator? The Propane Education
& Research Council offers this checklist to help consumers decide
if a standby would be a worthwhile investment for them:
Are you elderly or otherwise susceptible to extreme temperatures?
Do you rely on a home medical device powered by electricity?
Do you require refrigeration for medicines or other health-related needs?
Do you have an electronic security system?
Do you rely on a sump pump to keep your basement belongings dry?
Do you require heating and/or refrigeration for infant needs such as bottles,
formula preparation, etc.?
Do you live in an area prone to serious power outages (for example, you
have had two or more outages lasting at least 12 hours in the past year)?
Do you rely on an electrically operated well or water purifier for fresh
water?
Do you operate a business out of your home that requires electricity for
office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers and fax machines?
The engines used on the GUARDIAN Ultra Source® portables are manufactured at our Generac Power Systems, Inc. factory in Whitewater, WI. Generac engines are industrial grade engines designed to provide the ultra-quiet, longer-lasting performance required of portable generators. Generac OHVI® industrial engines run 3-5 times longer than SV/OHV lawnmower style engines. They also run 30-50 degrees cooler, are 5% more fuel-efficient and reduce oil consumption by 25%.
Rated watts describe the amount of power the portable generator can
produce continuously. Maximum wattage is the power that the generator
can produce for short periods of time. Motor starting is a good example
of maximum wattage requirements.
SAE 30W high detergent.
Oil should be changed after every 50-hours of run time.
Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with a minimum 85 octane rating.
The maintenance schedule for your GUARDIAN Ultra Source portable generator is in the owner’s manuaL.

relating to grounding.

No. Portable generators are designed to run outside where there is plenty of ventilation. Never run the generator in the home or an enclosed area.
